Light. (flash fiction).

The house was dark as she walked in, an overwhelming sense of dread descended with each step. “This is the end”, she thought to herself.

She knew the stairs broke halfway through the stairway and the void lay below, teeming with creatures she’d rather not think about.

Taking deep breaths, she was still indecisive on the next decision when the door swung open, brilliant light streamed from the hand of the figure at the door, blinding her momentarily.

“Papa?” she asked testily.
