Use heart to connect

The Kayode’s living room is a definition of organized chaos this evening as Kayode Snr steps in shaking his head. Kehinde, his last child runs up to him and wraps around his legs. Kayode Jnr who was behind Kehinde mutters a “Good evening, Dad” as he collects the family size pizza box from his dad.
Shifting LEGO blocks, he makes his way towards the center rug and plops beside Temitope who is engrossed in his PS5. “Temi, tell your mother we’re waiting for her” he says as he massages his afro in response to the half-hearted greeting.

In a few minutes he intends to share with them over pizza all he knows about his heart condition to mark the #worldheartday.

At least, he hopes his children will have a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases because of this night.
.

How much do you know about your heart? Did you know that genetic predisposition increases the risk of a cardiovascular disease by 3? This is definitely a conversation to have sometime soon.

This year as we reflect on the theme “Use heart to connect” I’d love you to think of all the ways you can possibly reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases by connecting with your family.

I’m rooting for your health.
