For today’s poetrythursday, I’m honoured to feature a sensational poet and medic, who is also a dear friend.
It’s throwback poetry: for the lock down, please, enjoy.
COVID-19;WE KNOW NOT ITS END.
As usual we were all chilling in different Places,
All for different cases.
Its either we had money for “suya” or just stayed stricken with
Hunger.
All the same it all balls down to the fact that we lived our Normal
Lives,
Not regarding what happens Next In line.
A virus? “Its a normal thing na” an Average Person will say,
Without knowing that this particular one is a “Slay queen”
With its usual Mission:TO SLAY!
“Biko which one is this again?” And a host of other questions
That we keep asking,
Afraid, confused and the world Started Panicking.
Corona virus, breaking Bonds ,social distancing, Isolation:
“Isolation? For what na?” I asked Myself,
But wetin man go do na? I can’t kill Myself.
Before I will Sneeze in peace, and wheeze with ease,
But now if you just cough on the road,
GHEN! GHEN! Just get ready to pack all your load.
And guess where you’ll spend your next Semester,
Ehyaaaaa! Of course it will be Isolation Centre.
The worst is the so called “quarantine”
And our bodies will be scratching us to go out like porcupines.
But we have to take the precautions, its for our own good,
Not just to sit down at home and just be eating food.
LEAVE EVERYTHING IN GOD’S HANDS:BUT WASH YOUR
OWN HANDS.
All this will pass us by,
We pray for it to fly by,faster than an airplane flies.
Do everything you know is needed,
The government believes their advice we have heeded.
We hope with time everything will Blend,
But as for COVID-19 we know not its end.
